June Riley nee LaFranchise was born on 9/23/1935 in Bennington VT. Her father ran a furniture store while her mother worked at the Benmont Factory. At the time the factories were a big industry in Bennington. Her father was drafted into the navy during WWII. Her grandparents were also from Bennington; her grandfather was a barber. June went to college in Albany for pediatric nursing. After graduating she worked at Bennington Hospital for a few months before spending two or three years working at St. Catherine’s Infant Home. In 1957 she married Charles, who was from Gabriels, NY, where his parents were farmers. June and Charles moved to Saranac Lake, and had two boys. They lived on Pine Street and Charles worked as a plumber and steamfitter. June moved to Will Rogers in 2015 after Charles passed away on October 31, 2015.
